Weekend Update {Thunder Up!}

*FRIDAY*

Friday morning Hads and I had a playdate with one of our friends from dance.  Hadley had a blast!

They had some "secret fun" playing beauty shop before we left, ha.  I think this is a rite of passage for most girls.

Luckily the fix turned out pretty cute.  =)

That evening I scored 2 tickets for the Thunder v. Magic game, from the AOOA, and took Andrew as a belated B-day gift.

Cece was a champ and came in town to watch the Hads.

The AOOA used the OSU bus to take everyone to the game, which was awesome.  Riding in a group is the best way to go, especially when you're not the one in charge of driving.

While we were out I found out Andrew got Monday off, 3-day weekend BABY!!

*SATURDAY*

This kid came in with her sandals from last year, a size 8.  We left with a size 10!!

We had a Mario Party 8 party after the kiddo's bedtime.  We love games. =)

*SUNDAY*

 After church we got Hadley's helmet and cleats for t-ball.

After observing how tall Hadley was in this picture, Andrew and I took her height and weight.

Height: 3'7" (95-97%)

Weight: 37 lbs. (50-75%)

Where did my baby go???

 We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Panera.  Hadley hung out for a little while playing with the Lalas.  As there was a bit of an ordeal at Panera.

**3 ladies and a baby were in ordering their food when someone pointed out their car was on fire.  To make matters worse they were from out of town and needed to go to the hospital because the baby had an appointment.  Andrew ended up taking them to the hospital and the Hads and I hung out.  Thankful we were able to help and thank goodness we remembered the Lalas. ;)

We had a Just Dance party when we got home.  Yes... I was winded and sweating when we got done.

*MONDAY*

This morning was so sweet watching Hads play with this toy she was enamored by as a 1 year old.

Hadley's Matilda Jane stuff came in, yay!!  BONUS: The pants I ordered go perfectly with the Easter shirt Ashley made her!!

Great day for a picnic. She loves being outside!

After Hads had played outside for a while she came in to play.  She got really quiet so I went to make sure everything was okay.  And she greeted me with a sweet smile while she played with her Lalas. =)

After practice we had soup for dinner and watched Hadley do some sidewalk art.

Then, Andrew changed the light in his car while I cleaned the inside of mine.  I love pretty days when you can enjoy outside work.

Right now I'm enjoying some time with the hubs before he heads back for Kansas.  Hads and I will be heading to Silver Dollar City for a day, which will help pass the time.  Thankfully it's only 3.5 days this week.

My Husband the D.O.

I don't feel in anyway I need to justify my husband going to an osteopathic school (DO) over an allopathic school (MD), but I do feel inclined to help inform those who don't know what osteopathic medicine is.

What Is Osteopathic Medicine?

This is not a practice of voodoo or witchcraft it is simply the idea of treating the entire person/patient rather than only treating the symptoms.  He will not be a medicine man prescribing herbal remedies. They use and KNOW modern medicine.  They take ALL the same classes as an allopathic (MD) student does in addition to their osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM).  This not only adds an extra class to every semester, but also adds an extra rotation during clinicals.

According to American Osteopathic Association (AOA), OMM or OMT is hands-on care.  It involves using the hands to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury.  To use OMM your DO will move your muscles and joints using techniques including stretching, gentle pressure and resistance.

Let's take a simple tension headache for example.  Treating the symptom you would possibly take an excedrin.

This contains: caffeine (addictive), aspirin (blood thinner), acetaminophen (hard on your liver).  It will probably take 30-45 minutes to start working and you'll probably need to take another in a few hours.  I'm not saying this is a horrible thing to do but if its not necessary why put it in your body.
Most tension headaches are caused from, like the name suggests,"tension" in your neck. 

I've had a few of these in my lifetime and since having them while Andrew's been in school, he can basically give me a 10 minute neck massage (granted there's a little more to it than that) and my headache is gone and stays away.

(I understand not everyone will have an Andrew to give them a neck massage, it was just an easy example.)

Yes, this may seem random but I hope it has been a moment of clarity for some.  Andrew has worked extremely hard the last 3 years for this degree (and still has one to go) and I am beyond proud.

Main Points:

My husband will be a REAL doctor.

He is in medical school.

  He will not be a chiropractor.

I am PROUD of his decision to do osteopathic medicine.

Survival 101

 Well I don't have a whole lot of tips I mean I've only made it through the first week, but that's something...right?!

My plan is just keeping ourselves entertained.  For a few days last week the weather was fantastic, so Hadley played and I read.

Long baths are always a good way to pass the time.  ;)

Another day of beautiful weather!! 

Hadley played while I cleaned all the leaves that had collected in her play area.  One word: YUCK!!

A little photo session while we waited for Hadley's T-ball meeting to start.  This is always a fun way to pass time.

P.S.- Hadley's a Yankee this season.

 When the hubby gets home for the weekend make the best of those few days!!

Friday was Andrew's birthday so we got take-out and put Hadley to bed early while we watched a movie on Netflix.

Saturday we had a fun filled family day.  Had lunch at Fudruckers, then went to see Escape From Planet Earth.  We had planned to go bowling but when you have a tired 3 y/o plans can change.  =/

We opted for a rest period and just chillin' together the rest of the day.

Sunday we had the nursery during late service.

Note to Self:  Late service nursery on the morning of Spring daylight savings, craziness!!  I think everyone went to late service.  We were so thankful for Candice and all the wonderful girls in our youth group who offered to help!

We grabbed some lunch and headed home so Andrew could start packing for another week in Kansas. After dinner I heard the sink water running in the kitchen and came in to this.

The awesome part about this was I didn't ask her to do it and she was so excited to be helping.  Hoping she keeps this kind of excitement for helping throughout the month (and beyond).

Jolene also brought the girls in to keep me and Hads company after Andrew left.  Paige was giving Andrew some serious cuddles when they got in.

So if you have a group of girls together you should probably go shopping.  While we were there a trip to the mall food court and play area was in order.

After dinner at Ted's we came back to the house, got ready for bed, made cookies and watched Princess Diaries II.  I love having a girl!

Paige got crazy and stripped down to her skivvies.  Love those rolls!

One week down, 3 more to go.

Watcha Doin'???

Not sure what you've been doin' but here's what we've been doin'.  =)

*Code Red*

Hadley has her own piggy bank of money she's acquired from birthday, christmas or other holiday gifts.  The other day she used some of her own money to buy her first toy.  She was so excited and of course I got pictures!  =)

*Put Me In Coach*

Since daddy will be on an away rotation this month we went to get Hadley's glove for t-ball while he was still here.  We've already played a few rounds of catch.  March is the official start month of Hadley's first organized sport.  

*Going Green*

Random but I ran out of the bags for my tea so I went and got this little tea ball.  I LOVE it!!  Just put my herbs in there and have the perfect cup of tea and I don't have to mess with all the bags.

Friday we got to watch the Robins kiddos while their mommy ran some errands.

*Dinner Date*

Then it was off to Rogers for a dear friend's wedding shower.  We got in right around dinner time so we took Mimi to eat since Pap-pa and Uncle Willie were out of town.  Market Place Express hit the spot, especially their Mini Chocolate Mess. (Yes...that's a mini!)

*Shower Day*

The shower was beautiful as was Kyndall, the bride-to-be!  Hadley was so enamored by the balloon, she was convinced it was a dress with a mustache, ha.

After the shower we headed to lunch with friends and then went to Aunt Jo and Ryan's to say hello before heading back to T-Town.  We had to wait a bit before they got home so we took a family pic.

This quarter I'm co-teaching in the nursery with some sweet little babies and I got to love on them this morning.  After church we grabbed a bite and have been getting Andrew ready for his rotation in Kansas.  Friday can't come soon enough!!
