So we moved to Tulsa, OK!

Yes, I realize its been like a million years since I've posted anything, but I'm doing it now. Instead of writing a crazy long post about everything thing that has happened over the last million years (3 months) I will just break it down into subjects, today's being: We Moved.
This is a picture of our adorable home that I am so in love with. Its a work in progress but we're almost there and its really started to feel like home. Since living here we have discovered some interesting/fun/exciting things.
1.) Sharing a Bathroom: As I said I love our home but there is one down side...one bathroom. You know there's the usual who's going to get to go first after you've come home from church or from being out for a while and then its a race, but there's also sharing a tub. Let me start by telling you up until the last week most of our showers consisted of being in ankle deep water due to our drain not working. After getting a plumber to come check it out it turns out Hadley had stuffed one of her wash cloths down the drain. (Huh, no wonder 2 bottles on Drano didn't work!) Tonight I got in the shower to find spaghetti noodles, because Hadley had spaghetti for dinner and I put her straight in the tub. I can tell I'm really going to enjoy this...
2.) Rolly Pollies: I remember as a kid rolly polly's were the coolest. You just sit there and watch all there little legs moving like crazy to get them going or pushing them over and watching them go like crazy to flip back over. (that generally never worked out for them) I also loved touching their backs and they would curl up so fast and then I would wait for them to uncurl and do it again. Well Hadley has also become fascinated with the rolly polly although she thinks when it rolls up its the perfect opportunity to pick it up and see how fast she can put it in her mouth before I stop her. *This is not limited to rolly pollies. I have also spotted moth eating and finger smashing ant, followed by finger in mouth.
3.) Electricity: Yes we currently have electricity, but........ All the outlets in the front portion of our house are not working due to there being a short between 2 of them. Who knew that would take out 6 outlets. So in order to have our TV working in the living room we have an extension cord running into the sunroom. In order to have internet we have the router plugged into the phone jack in the hall but due to the fact there are no outlets in the hall we are having to plug it into one in the kitchen, which means there's a cord running across our hallway. The electrician has come but it is going to take him going in though the crawl space, with an extra person, to fix it so that has yet to be done. In the meantime Hadley has tripped over the cord atleast once a day since we've had internet. It wouldn't be so bad except she sees it as an obstacle and wants to walk over it none stop. Dear goodness let it be fixed soon.
4.) Sprinkler: Last one... So now that we have a yard and a child we decided its time to get a sprinkler. Toys 'R' us was having a sale on them so my mom and I picked one up while they were in town last weekend. We were both so excited when we got home we unwrapped it and got Andrew and my dad to come outside to watch Hadley's first sprinkler experience. Mom had the video camera, Andrew had the regular camera, dad was setting up chairs for us to watch and I was turning on the water. So me being in charge of the water go over while mom and Hadley are standing next to the sprinkler. I turn it on and since there's that hesitation between turning the water on and it actually coming out I ended up turning it full blast...oops. Moments later I hear my mom screaming and turn to see her running away and Hadley following bellowing out the most terrifying cry ever. Meanwhile the sprinkler has fallen over from the force of water and is flopping around. My dad is trying to get it under control as I go back to turn the water down a bit. Afterwards Hadley is still crying so we all end up running through the sprinkler to try to counter act this terrible first sprinkler experience for Hadley. Ultimately she loved it and now every time we go outside she runs to the sprinkler and starts talking to it. Pin It

Hello Spring....

Monday was such a beautiful day, so we decided to make the most of it. That morning I actually had to work, but Andrew took Hadley and Jake for a jog on the bike trail behind Berryhill Park. Of course they both had a ball. All you have to do in our house is say the word "park" and Jake's day automatically improves 100%. Hadley now stands at the door banging on it and turns around and looks to see if you are aware she's wanting to go outside. After the jog they played a bit at the park and then headed home for Hadley's afternoon nap.

I got home shortly after she woke up. Andrew went to take a load to his parents and Hadley and I headed out to the back yard where there is a playground. (We have 2 weeks to be moved out of our apartment and until we leave for Tulsa we're staying with Andrew's parents.) She ran out to the playground and immediately started going up the steps. Of course we took a few trips down the slide and then took a stroll around the apartments.

After being inside for maybe 2 minutes Hadley was already at the front door wanting to go back out. So we got Jake's leash and went for another walk until Andrew got home. Once he got home we thought it would be fun to go to the batting cages and hit some balls and see what Hadley thought about all that. She was mesmerized. The entire time her eyes were wide open and so was her mouth. When watching the other kids she would run to the fence and point and go, "Ooo, Oooo!" Adorable!!!

What a day...Hadley ate dinner, got a bath, and went to bed. The next morning that wonderful day turned into ALLERGIES!!! Persistent runny nose, dry coughing, sneezing, and of course itchy watery eyes. Hello Spring and hello Benadryl!

Just Another Day at the Park!

Hadley, Jake and I all went to the park today to enjoy the beautiful weather. We made a lap around the trail to appease Jake and then we went a played on the swings. As you can see Hadley enjoys them very much, she laughed the entire time!
After playing on the swings for a while I blew bubbles while Hadley chased them, she's so easily entertained.

Operation Pink Eye

I'm starting out this post with a big BOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that I have that out of my system I will explain....

So yesterday was Hadley's 9 month check up. (Yes, I realize she is almost 10m but that's all they had available this month.) Before going in she was perfectly healthy with her beautiful blue eyes and happy as can be. It was not immediate, but I did start noticing a little before dinner that Hadley's right eye seemed a bit red and she was rubbing it quite a bit. I didn't think much of it and Andrew assured me she was fine it was probably just because she was getting tired since she didn't take a very good nap. Then we were sitting at dinner and I really began to notice a nasty white ooze coming from both eyes. I tried to wipe it away but as soon as I had thrown the tissue away and turned back to look at her....THERE IT WAS!! We gave her some allergy medicine thinking it could be just from the weather and put her to bed.

She woke up this morning with what seemed like the usual sleep in her eyes, but was definitely not herself as the day progressed, very whiney and irritable. She was still rubbing her eyes and the "sleep" wasn't going away. Due to her attitude I decided to put her down at 11:45 for her nap (which usually happens around 12:30). She didn't even make a peep until almost 2:30, which then I knew something was up. When I went in to get her, her eyes were caked shut and oozing profusely. I had to go to work, but I told Andrew she HAD to go to the doctor.

As I was leaving I began to get that itchy/burning eye feeling. I couldn't decide if it was just me being paranoid or if I too had fallen victim to Pink Eye. I decided to brave the storm and go ahead to work. Shortly after I got there I talked to one of the nurses, she looked at my eye and said, "You definitely have it, go home." (By the way I commute 1 hr to work. Again, boo...)

As I said earlier we decided Hadley must go to the doctor, so Andrew took her while I was 'at work.' The doctor took a brief look at her and said, "Oh yeah... she's got pink eye there's no doubt." Prescribed an ointment and sent them on their way. The ointment is to be applied 4x daily for 7 days!!! I don't think they realize how hard it is to pry a 9 month old's eye open enough to get an ointment (not drops) spread on the inside. Its terrible, and we're only on day 1!!

I say most of this to vent on how bad I feel for my poor little girl. I also say this because as someone mentioned to me today she probably got it at the doctors office on Friday. Just goes to show how unclean doctors' offices can possibly be. Pin It

P90X

For those of you who don't know we have an annual trip to the beach that we take with Andrew's family every summer. This is probably the highlight of my summer and has been since I started going back in college. I think partly what made it so enjoyable was not having the fear of getting into a bathing suit, which is the TOTAL opposite once you've had a baby. Last year when we went Hadley had just turned 4 months, so I totally had the excuse of, "Well....I just had a baby." What stinks about this year is, I'm not pregnant and Hadley will be over a year old so "just" had a baby won't cut it.
The thing that makes this a bit more stressful is this annual beach trip is running at the beginning of the summer this year, where as last year it was at the end. I have exactly 79 days from today to have this non-mom body.
My sister-in-law (who also had a baby last year) and I made a commitment to eachother to tell each other when we worked out to keep ourselves accountable. That was going well except when the snow came and then I just had one excuse after the other. Something different needed to be done. Andrew found the P90X DVDs, that everyone has been talking about on ebay. They just came in the mail last friday and we started on saturday.
It truely is an awesome workout and I hope I can look half as decent as the people on there. But according to the before pictures, that they tell you to take, I have A LOT of work to do. Especially in the booty area. Wish me luck!!!! Pin It

Hadley's Walking

So Hadley is now walking all over the place. The first couple days it was walk a few steps until she fell and then she would resort to crawling, but now its full on walking. When she falls she just pushes herself back up and keeps on. She has actually 'tried' to run. This resulted in a face plant I think about 2 strides into it. There's something about not being able to bend your knees when you run that makes it much harder to stay on your feet. Not that she's letting that get her down.

She has a pretty good shiner right now from her most recent adventures. Seeing that we've entered this new phase I'm sure it will not be the last. Coffee tables and corners beware Hadley's mobile and not easily scared.
